Long run, short fall
27.01k
Start 6.48
(Here we have the 'Pride Comes Before a Fall' textbook illustration...)
When almost home I tripped and fell. Grazed right knee and left shoulder. My left cheekbone also bounced off the ground (stone path) and has a small cut which may turn into an impressive bruise. My chin now also feels battered on the left side and it hurts when I laugh. I briefly thought of cutting my losses and taking the short route home but I only had 3k to go to complete the distance I had on my schedule for today and, as I could just as easily fall during the marathon I decided to keep going till my Garmin had clocked up the full 27k.

Goudsche Singelloop
8.02k
Start 18.15
With warm up and cool down to and from the Markt start/finish.
I had a great 7k home turf race this evening. Came past our ark twice and had my own personal cheering station with Klaas and various friends and neighbours, which helped immensely. Have just looked at the results and I was in the top 100 (of 366 women - if we inlude the men I was almost exactly half way in the 770 runners). And if there's been an age division I would have been first in my age group. I didn't see anyone younger than me in the women's list who was faster. Which for me is fair amazing really ;-) So I'm fair chuffed.
I'm glad now that I didn't get into the 10k and had to do the 7 instead. It started an hour earlier, which meant I could run my race, jog home, collect the chocolate medal the neighbourwummin had got for me, then quickly shower and change and set off with our raft and my supporters to chug up and down the canal watching the 10k racers whilst eating the curry I'd prepared earlier. One of the best evenings I've had in ages.

Yasso 800s
13.27k
Start 18.49
Predicted time now 4:41:07
Second one was a struggle. First one was best time, last one second best. Different route from where I normally run them, with more turns and blinding sun some of the way. Unimpressive times but still a good run overall and I felt good most of the time. Lots of runners about. You can feel the Singelloop fever building as folk who've signed up realise it's at the end of This Week and they maybe haven't fitted in as much training as they should have.

Garmin experiment
15.12k
Start 6.21
Got up early and dithered about before first light setting the interval training programme on the Garmin to tell me when to start and stop for Yasso 800s. However not quite sure how it all works yet and just as I was getting started, after my warm up run to the edge of town, I realised I'd forgotten my drinks bottles so circled back home to get them and abandoned the rest of the programme, just doing a couple of mile repeats using my usual manual method of clockwatching.
