Just scraped in this month after a flagging start.
Still, 40 minutes 'in the time bank'. Think I'll try to go back to the 36 hour interval schedule as far as possible, so that will usually mean 5 x 60 (or 4 x 75) minutes in a week to reach the 300 rather than the more frequent shorter runs I've been doing lately. I'll see how it works out, there's almost always something that disturbs the schedule and leads to time juggling. Well that's what the extra 2 or 3 days at the end of the month are for I suppose...

Blood and petrol

Had to turn back after 6 minutes to deal with a minor tsunami of blood.
Having sorted that out went on a different route along the pond by the Berekuil and then across the road to the petrol station there to see what the price was (after having been somewhere the other day where they claimed it was 11 cent cheaper but as I didn't have a comparison price this was slightly doubtful - turned out I had paid 9 cent less than this one, so not such a bad deal after all).
Since I was on a side of the road where I normally don't come, I continued past the sportsfields and on to the housing estate behind them. Home via an allotment complex and then back via the Berekuil tunnel and Bloeyendaal. Regular 1 minute or slightly longer 'sprint' (well, slightly faster than normal anyway) intervals.

Grey start (with sprinty bits)

No photos today as it was all too grey and boring but I did have a good run all the same. Some mention of how sprinting was good for increasing speed by Zen Runner on the RunRunLive podcast reminded me that it is a good idea to put some faster intervals in now and then. Not that I'll ever be fAst, but a Wee Bit Faster is always good to aim for and I felt strong enough today to put in a minute or so of faster running during every 5 minute block on the way home. It feels good to be able to switch to a higher gear now and then.

The last photo is of some odd sort of pavement graffiti/advertising I spotted on the Emmalaan on the way home. Are the pavements being sponsored? Or is it just a random Range Rover nutter? I may get round to asking the council about it at some point.

Hill Training

Ran into the centre of town, stopped briefly at Karin's and then on the way back through the park along the canal took about 12 minutes to run repeatedly back and forward over the hilly bit behind LouisHartloper. Hadn't actually planned this bit of hill-training but the first session felt just tiring enough to be worthwhile and hills are supposed to be good for increasing stamina and not something I come across here very often. I'll have to do this more often, I do feel now as if my heart and lungs have had more of a work-out than normal. No noticable effect in my legs as yet.

Sliding a bit here but excuses for this week are:
1) moving house involves a lot of hoiking stuff up stairs so that must at least surely count as serious cross training.
2) having Shadow meant I didn't do any running off the complex as I'm not sure he wouldn't disappear after any wildlife he spotted - there are only so many variations of circuits I can do before it gets boring, even with the best Afternoon Plays to accompany me.

Meandering circuits with the dog, chasing pheasants and hares (Shadow, not me). Due to a combination of the enthusiasm of Kaytie on the Run Barefoot Girl podcast and the first warmish sun of the year I started out in bare feet. But after about 2 minutes the frequent loose sharp pointy bits on the (clear enough looking) paths had me hobbling and walking very carefully and slowly back to get my shoes.
